Grain boundary strengthening of microstructure phases in SS400 structural steel weld zone

چکیده
Grain boundary strengthening is a method of materials by changing their average crystalize (grain) size, exhibiting the basic relationship between yield stress and grain size materials. This methodology based on observation boundaries that are insurmountable borders for dislocationsand number dislocations located within grain. Applying this to structural steel weld zone, mechanical properties each microstructural phase can be evaluated through values diameter. For zones, there not many methods directly determine mechanicalproperties phases. Thus, in study, was created evaluate equation. constructedby observing determining three phasesin zone (i.e. metal, heat-affected metal). The results from study provide aneasy way engineers, architects, scientists metal SS400 zone.

Modelling the Evolution of Microstructure in Steel Weld Metal
Physical models for the development of microstructure have the potential of revealing new phenomena and properties. They can also help identify the controlling variables. The ability to model weld metal microstructure relies on a deep understanding of the phase transformation theory governing the changes which occur as the weld solidifies and cools to ambient temperature. Considerable progress ...
متن کاملGrain-boundary motion in layered phases.
We study the motion of a grain boundary that separates two sets of mutually perpendicular rolls in Rayleigh-Bénard convection above onset. The problem is treated either analytically from the corresponding amplitude equations, or numerically by solving the Swift-Hohenberg equation. We find that if the rolls are curved by a slow transversal modulation, a net translation of the boundary follows. W...

Study of a diverse set of chiral smectic materials, each of which has twist grain boundary (TGB) phases over a broad temperature range and exhibits grid patterns in the Grandjean textures of the TGB helix, shows that these features arise from a common structure: "giant" smectic blocks of planar layers of thickness l(b) > 200 nm terminated by GBs that are sharp, mediating large angular jumps in ...
متن کاملGrain boundary strengthening in alumina by rare earth impurities.
Impurity doping often alters or improves the properties of materials. In alumina, grain boundaries play a key role in deformation mechanisms, particularly in the phenomenon of grain boundary sliding during creep at high temperatures. We elucidated the atomic-scale structure in alumina grain boundaries and its relationship to the suppression of creep upon doping with yttrium by using atomic reso...
